PLAINFIELD B.O.E. HONORS

Plainfield, NJ – February 28, 2017 – The Plainfield Board of Education honored students with Certificates of Accomplishment at their meeting held Tuesday, February 21, 2017.  Among the honored was educator Norma Flores, History Teacher at Barack Obama Academy for Academic & Civic Delopment (BOAACD), for her contributions to the Black Silohouettes: How do we maintain our humanity student exhibit.  The exhibit helped students learn about world conflicts and leaders who chose peace to solve their problems.  The students present to receive their certificates were Rafyah Smith (coral dress) and Micah Mann (green top) both are Seniors at BOAACD who attended with their families. Their principal Mr. Kevin Stansbury (with blue shirt and jacket) handed the certificates and a plaque for Ms. Flores.  Dr. Angela Bento, Principal of the Plainfield Academy for the Arts and Advanced Studies (PAAAS) (black turtle neck sweater) presented her students with their Achievement Certificates. The students were Alexis Morrast, 10th Grade who won First Place at the Apollo- the Nationally Television Competition on February 3, 2017; and Arianna Diaz, who won the New Jersey Regional Poetry Out Loud at the South Orange Arts Center on February 8, 2017.
