The Madison String Quartet will present a program of “Spring Colors”, Sunday, March 12 at 3 pm, at Crescent Avenue Presbyterian Church, Plainfield. Violinists Evelyn Estava and Rebecca Harris-Lee, violist Michael Avagliano, and cellist Gerall Hieser will perform works including two world premieres. Guitarist Carlos Cuestas will join the quartet for the performance.
Violinist Evelyn Estava says the Quartet has always presented programs that mix the old and the new. “Over the years, we've had the pleasure of working with composers from all over the world, and we love bringing new music to our audiences,” she said.
New Jersey composer Scott Hawkinson has written two pieces for quartet, “Hymn” and “My Quiet Ride With Bill”, dedicated to the Madison String Quartet. “Kletz-Lama”, by Venezuelan composer Paul Desenne, is also receiving its world premiere. Mr. Cuestas will be the guest artist for Miguel Del Aguila's “Boliviana”, based on Bolivian folk themes. The Quartet has performed several works by Del Aguila before, and made the premiere recording of his quartet “Life Is A Dream”.
There is a suggested donation of $15 for the performance. For more information about the performance and the Quartet, visit www.madisonstringquartet.com .
