“ As a painter, my greatest desire is to communicate humanity via the narrative. In a socially detached world, my hope is to draw the viewer in like a cinematographer by feeling the psychological moments of my subject with the mood of the environment.”
Nanci France-Vaz is a nationally acclaimed Modern Romantic painter that fuses classical and contemporary realism. The artist’s cinematic style incorporates her acting/dance background into her narrative paintings. Nanci’s subjects evoke human presence to engage the viewer to be drawn in and feel emotion for them.
Her upcoming solo exhibit, Rhapsodies of Life will be at Swains Gallery Sept 30-Oct 21 2017. The reception is Saturday Sept 30 from 5-7pm.
The exhibit is a retrospective of previous and recent works combined to show moments in the artist’s life. Showing her diversity of subject matter the exhibit will have her narrative figures, portrait, still life, and seascape/cityscape scenes.
Ms France-Vaz has exhibited in many group shows which include OPA National and Eastern Regional at the Eisele Gallery, “Women Painting Women 2013/2014” at the Principle Gallery Charleston, SC to name a few. Her painting of Lloyd “Mr Personality” Price was accepted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Museum in December 2014 as part of their permanent collection. Her paintings hang in many private collections in the US and in Europe.
Nanci’s awards include the Len G. Everett Memorial Award Allied Artists of America Annual Exhibit 2016, 12th Annual ARC Salon 2016 portrait/figurative finalist, Colonel George J. Morales Award, the John Collins Memorial Award, and 3rd place for Portrait Society of America Members Showcase Exhibition.
Publications include American Art Collector may Issue 2017, Fine Art Connoisseur, International Artist magazine, and who’s Who in American Art.
