As we look back at our 91 years, duCret has always been a special place for those whose creativity stretches beyond the canvas.
Our students and faculty are constant reminders of our long-standing promise to preserve and promote the arts.
Out on the lawn in the summer or in the fine arts room in the winter, our classes are filled with color, style and knowledge.
This year has been full of change and opportunity. We expanded classes to include fashion and costume design. Our students have enjoyed forming characters through the clothes they wear and have glimpsed the daily job of film costume designers.
Recently, we gathered artwork from students, faculty, and donors to have one of the largest art shows in duCret history. This provided us with exposure to the greater art community and a way of raising much needed funds.
As change is the only constant in life, duCret has brought on new and qualified faculty members and seen the retirement of some of our longer-term teachers and administrative staff.
We are lean and looking forward to reinforcements to bolster our numbers.
Residing in one of the oldest historic homes in Plainfield is both an opportunity and a challenge. While we adore the character and vibrancy the old woodworking brings to life, we need to perform routine maintenance. Our roof and heating systems have seen better days.
To insure duCret’s future we are looking to bring in a well-rounded, full time administrative staff. We cannot accomplish our goals without your help.
Please consider a contribution to the duCret School of Art. This would ensure our survival, improve our physical plant and a strengthen the faculty to prepare our students for a rewarding career in the arts.
