New Jersey Intergenerational Orchestra (NJIO) will hold two, free, Monday open house rehearsals on September 17th and September 24th from 4:30 to 9:30 PM at 570 Central Avenue in New Providence. Individuals interested in joining the orchestra, whether they are a beginner, lapsed, curious or a virtuoso, are welcome to attend and learn more – don’t forget your instrument!
New Jersey Intergenerational Orchestra is a unique organization in which musicians of all ages and skill levels experience the joy of making music together. Professional musicians work alongside members as mentors and the result is artistic excellence with a strong educational component in a non-competitive, musically challenging atmosphere. NJIO has three orchestras to accommodate a range of skill levels and members choose which to join: Prelude String Ensemble, a small group for beginning string players, Intermezzo, A full symphonic orchestra for advanced beginner and intermediate players, and Symphony, a full symphonic orchestra for intermediate and advanced players who want to participate at a high level. No auditions needed! Each orchestra rehearses weekly and performs in four annual concerts in public venues in NJ.
